'City' Girl Davis in 'Season' for TNT
LOS ANGELES - Kristin Davis will go from Manhattan to Pittsburgh for her next TV role. The "Sex and the City" star has signed on to the TNT movie "The Winning Season." She'll play Mandy Henton, the fiancée of baseball legend Honus Wagner (Matthew Modine), in the time-traveling fantasy. The film, based on the book "Honus and Me" by Dan Gutman, follows a 12-year-old boy who finds a rare Honus Wagner baseball card (an actual Wagner card auctioned for more than $1 million a few years ago). He soon discovers that the card also has the power to grant wishes. The boy travels back in time to the 1909 World Series, where Wagner's Pittsburgh Pirates faced Ty Cobb's Detroit Tigers, and strikes up a friendship with Wagner, one of the first five inductees into the Baseball Hall of Fame, and Henton. Steven L. Bloom ("James and the Giant Peach") wrote the screenplay for "The Winning Season," which will be directed by John Kent Harrison ("What the Deaf Man Heard"). It's scheduled to premiere next spring. |
Maybe the kid could make a wish for Mandy. I don't think Honus ever married her.
