'Charmed' Gets Three More Years
by Brill Bundy
The WB has confidence that actress Shannen Doherty's departure from its No. 2 show, "Charmed," won't be too hard to work around. Citing its confidence in Aaron Spelling's casting wizadry (sic), the network announced that they've picked up the witchy drama for three more seasons.
Doherty is not the first actress to leave the show suddenly. Lori Rom was originally cast as Phoebe, but dropped out between shooting the pilot and the show's premiere, due to conflicts she had between the supernatural slant of the show and her own personal beliefs.
Rom was replaced by Alyssa Milano, who, by many accounts, has proven to be the most popular of the Halliwell siblings.
In addition to the "Charmed" deal, The WB also announced on Tuesday (May 15) that its No. 1 series, the family drama "7th Heaven," will be back for at least two more seasons, as will Melissa Joan Hart's "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch."
