Jack Wagner tees up for ESPN
By JOHN DEMPSEY
ESPN, striving to broaden its audience by producing more sports programming with an entertainment angle, has signed a deal with actor Jack Wagner ("Melrose Place") to host a showbiz golf show called "Off Course."
The format is still being worked on, but the idea is for Wagner, an accomplished golfer, to tape a round of golf with celebrities from both entertainment and sports.
The matches would take up the first part of the half-hour weekly show, with the second half devoted to an interview of the celebrity by Wagner, focusing on their golf games.
There's no timetable yet for an ESPN air date of "Off Course," said Mike Antinoro, ESPN's senior coordinating producer.
