Daily Dish The Net Finds Langton Stepping Out
One would assume the Internet-centric show, which premieres this weekend on USA (Sunday, 9 pm/ET) before settling into its 9 pm/ET Saturday slot the following week, would plant the actress in front of a computer much of the time. But no, Langton's often on the run. And she discussed the advantages of shooting at different locations at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena, CA.
"I was getting a little sick of it — the pool and the apartment — because that's [the only place] we ever shot," Langton says of her Melrose stint. "This is every location you can imagine, so it's good for me because of the fresh air and to get out of a constant set.... I love being out and about. You feel like you're living instead of [being] in this little box."
The actress is stepping into the role created by Sandra Bullock in the 1995 movie, a computer programmer who becomes a fugitive after she receives e-mail she wasn't supposed to see.
Langton says that beyond web searches, her own computer skills don't approach those of her character. "I wouldn't say that I can type more than 20 words a minute or anything. Computer-savvy I am, but not like my character. My character is one of the best in the world." — Michael Peck

I watched the series premiere of The Net and it was pretty not bad considering the movie stank. Brooke was as charming as ever. But I don't know how well the show will do once it is moved to Saturday night.
